Please mark your calendar for 2 pm on Saturday, February 28th and plan to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Vancouver Quadra Federal Liberal Electoral District Association (EDA), at Kits Neighbourhood House, 2305 West 7th Ave., (at Balsam). Our MP, Joyce Murray will be with us and will provide an update from Ottawa.
An election will be held for the following positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Communications Chair, Policy Chair, Membership Chair, Organization Chair, Fundraising Chair, and Election Readiness Chair. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these positions please contact me at:email@example.com.
In Quadra, it is our practice to appoint a large number of non-voting Directors at Large to our EDA. Directors at Large attend EDA meetings, participate in special projects, serve on committees and contribute their skills, knowledge, and ideas. It is a good way to get involved and find out more about the structure and operations of the Liberal Party of Canada. Please contact me by email if you would like your name to be added to the list of Directors at Large.
At this AGM, we are putting forward two by-laws to be voted on by members. These by-laws, which will come into effect for the next AGM in 2016, have been recommended by the Liberal Party of Canada in BC. They are:
- In accordance with section 16 of the LPCBC Constitution, anyone wishing to stand for election to the EDA executive at an Annual General Meeting must submit their notice of intent to do so no less than seven days in advance of the Annual General Meeting.
- In accordance with subsection 10(2) and section 16 of the LPCBC Constitution, the EDA executive shall have up to 22 additional non-voting Directors at Large.
With an election coming up not later than the fixed date of October 19, 2015, this is a great time to join the executive and contribute to securing another successful election victory in Quadra for the Liberal Party of Canada and Joyce Murray. I look forward to seeing you on February 28th.
