On Thursday, August 16, Liberals hit the streets with 16 volunteers to ask the question “What are the most important issues facing Canadian families today?”
Together, with National Membership Chair, Matt Certosimo, and LPCBC President, Brian Rice, we canvassed over 400 houses in Vancouver Quadra.
Many of the people we met are furious with the current government’s mismanagement of the economy and its delinquent environmental policies. A local resident was also puzzled by the government’s recent decision to close the Kitsilano Coast Guard. The constituent echoed a recent comment by Lawrence MacAulay, the Liberal Critic for Fisheries and Oceans: “These search-and-rescue stations are the frontline for safety on Canada’s waters. Now this service will be limited, response times will suffer significantly and Canadian lives will be put at risk.”
We are also happy to announce that we signed up seven new Supporters who are eager to help select the next leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.
To celebrate a successful evening of democratic engagement, the volunteers regrouped at the Cove Neighbourhood Pub, where the Vancouver Quadra Riding Association provided a healthy spread of food. It was a great time with lots of laughs and insightful conversation.
Joyce Murray, Member of Parliament for Vancouver Quadra, dropped by to thank all the dedicated volunteers for proudly representing the Liberal Party of Canada. She emphasized the value of engaging with the community and offering a positive alternative to Stephen Harper’s betrayal of Canadian values.
In order to continue this fight we need your help!
